Seeing Light At the End of the Tunnel. Also, if you hate it, just lie to me!

This first picture will only matter if you are my mom or someone else who has been to my house multiple times...look, mom, no more useless desk...That new wall to the left of the laundry is the side of the new pantry.

This picture is attempting to show all of you who have suffered my endless obsessing about shades of white, almond, cream, vanilla, and a myriad other shades of "not quite white, like old white!" Can you see how the cabinets are different than the white trim? In all of the other pictures they just look white due tot he stupid flash andmy inability to take decent photographs...this is the best I can do.

The following pictures are general pictures of the progress. Al..Most...There!

Oh, looky! Can you see my new vacuum in the one above?? I llluurrrv it!!!! Upright vacuums are forever banished from this house!

Still not the granite or backsplash that I would have chosen, but I like them much better now than I did before. (I promise I WILL find some before pictures and post them.)

Wall color is a little lighter than I had envisioned, but I still like it. And, it does look a little deeper in person than it does in these pictures. ( I think the flash is once again the culprit)

Tomorrow, electricians are coming to put in fans and lighting. Painters will be her to finish up some final touches. Next, need to get the travertine repaired, buffed, and sealed. THEN, time to get the recessed built-in office designed and installed. Finally, at some point, it will be time to put in floors everywhere else in the house! Oh, and one more thing, I now HATE the paint in my front living room when seen from the new kitchen, so I guess I'm going to be painting it now too! Boy oh boy! These things really do take 10X longer than you plan, even when you are planning realistically! until we are done you will have to put up with my pictures, because at least my mom likes them and they upload faster here than they do through email!

BEAUTIFUL! I love your kitchen!!!!

I can tell the white on the cabinets is more creamy than the white trim. Good job finding the perfect color....

So, what kind of vacuum is that, exactly and why do you love it? I'm kind of a student of vacuums.

Katie - It is an electrolux oxygen. Sadly I can go into very intricate details about this! I am sick of having "throw away vacuums," and we are getting rid of ALL the carpet in the house so a canister vac makes more sense on hard floors. Although, this one has a great power nozzle for carpets that I have been using since, currently, the damn carpet is still here. It is recommended for allergy control with its airtight HEPA 13 filter and seal..blah blah blah. wanted a Miele, but could not stomach the $11oo for a vacuum and found this to be a great substitute. I also HATe bagless, will never own another, and this one has self-sealing bags so there is never a mess anywhere when you change the bags or filters. I could write a LONg post about vacuums at this point...

Erin- you are welcome here ANY TIME!!! Although, Id reccommen not coming now while it is currently, LITERALLY, hotter than hell and the surface of the sun combined.

Mandy - Look at you with the zinger questions!!! First meal - Id guess it might be linguini with white wine and clams - a family favorite. They all inhale it!!! And, I get to drink the leftover wine from cooking.
Wall color - Shaker Beige by Benjamin Moore. Great neutrl. I needed a neutral that had some gray undertones in it to neutralize the backsplash that i don't love, but I wanted it to still be warm. Finding gray undertones and warm in the same paint is not easy. this one did jus the trick. The trick is to find a formula with umber in it!

Tracy - i would LOVE to. I enjoy all of this SO much more when it is not MY house involved! And, yours will be easier since you won't be trying, like me, to work around some existing elements that you don't like. thats the joy of a total gutting project! Im jealous!

Look, I wrote another post in my own comment section! So embarrassed!

I love this kitchen. It looks so open and airy and cool. I'm so sorry it's so ungodly hot in there. And yes, I can see all the different whites.

It is beautiful! Love the backsplash. And yes, so open and airy! I bet you're SO glad it's (almost) done.

That is going to be absolutely STUNNING when it's done. I usually am not a big fan of white cabinetry, but the color you chose combined with the wall color and counter top is absolutely gorgeous. Amazing job :)
