And on the 6th day God said, "Let there be drywall!"

Now, if somebody could just help me make a final decision about CABINET PAINT!!!! AAARRGGHHH!!!! I know WHAT I WANT. I just am not sure how to MAKE IT HAPPEN! I want a "white' that is not white, but I don't want it to bee to creamy either. In my head I dream of a color I call "vanilla." And, don't give me any crap about painting the cabinets - I hate oak, okay? HATE HATE HATE.
Tomorrow - tape, bed, texture and trim work. Is it possible that we could be completely done with everything except the floors by Friday??????

Hurray for drywall! I can't believe you're going to paint the cabinets instead of removing them in favor of the plastic kind we had in Japan. Can't you just bring some French Vanilla ice cream to Home Depot and have them match it?

There is such a color. It is in my head also. Have you gone to Lowe's to look at the vanilla glazed cabinets by Kraftmaid. It is my FAVORITE! I am in the process of your pain. Please tell me it is do-able!!! Have you been eating out every meal? We are ripping out EVERYTHING? Of course we need a design first. THat would probably make the project better. (oh and now hubby thinks he should use his week vacation in AUGUST to do it himself WTH? Although he seems to think he can make one week turn into three but still seriously? I can't mention that on my blog because he reads it even if he won't admit it.)

Good luck on the color

NO! NO! NO! NO! DO NOT DIY!!!! NOT worth it! Pick up one extra 2 day on VJA to cover some labor costst o have someone else do it!! Especially if you are ripping out EVERYTHING!

I have manged to cook (and I use that term VERY loosely!) most evenings. Lunchis always out because the workers are here and in there. However, we are not ripping enything out. Would love to, but can't justify it as most everything in thereis new. (the house was a flip) definitely NOT the granite or cabinets I would have chosen...oh well, Im doing what I can. sorry to bore you all with pictures, but Im excited. Ive waited 4 years and two airlines for this. (and it keeps my mom in the loop1)

Are you kidding me? Remodels are like organizational tools. I could sit and read about them all day. Keep the pictures coming. Oh and I have tried some antique shops. Have you ever tried to shope with a 3 and 5 year old? needless to say, I don't make it there as often as I should to get the full benifits.

Ripped my kitchen totally out about 5 years ago. Love it now. I use Home Depot Thomasville cabinets. I would paint the oak also. My kitchen was a 1963 tan, flat, small...seriously, two people couldn't fit in it. But, now... I have an island! woo hoo. Love remodeling. That same summer, my youngest daughter and I ripped all the carpet and pads out, grouted all the new tile that got put down, ripped out the old square lineloum in the laundry room and painted every room we could. Oh... and I got a kidney infection to top it all off. BUT. The results are great! Keep the pictures coming!
