Tick Tock

It looks like a harmless roll-aboard. It is not. It is a time-bomb's ever ticking timer. It sits in the corner of the bedroom because there is no sense in putting it away. It arrives home to its corner and immediately begins ticking - ticking off the moments until it leaves again. Every moment that it gets to sit in the corner is measured and pre-determined. There it sits, giving me the finger, letting me know who is in charge. Its ticking is obnoxious and sometimes deafening. Yet, I am not sure which bothers me most - the persistent ticking or the silence when its corner is empty. Maybe the absence of the ticking is what makes it possible for me to hear EVERY single noise that occurs inside or outside of the house all night long and never really fall asleep.
I am strong and independent. I can live through both the ticking and the silence, but sometimes I'd just rather not.

the thing I HATE about the time-bomb is that until I bought a thingy like they have at hotels for him to put it on he would put it ON OUR BED TO PACK - do you people know what those roll thru on any given day??? - which is worse b/c our time bomb doenst always have a nice jetway to go to the plane from the to gate -- AND he doesnt alwasy bring it in right away to unpack so I can wash the nastiness in it -- AND until he got one that looks a lot like that one pictured I had to hear EVERY DAY how he needed a new one (a grown man with a visa card PEOPLE - I was not going to be responsible for buying the wrong one - b/c its apparently a very personal thing - these time bombs)

**breathes** sorry for hijacking your comments maryb - I guess you struck a nerve;)

That same time bomb is in my house. Of course, my bomb usually gets left in the car until I have put the last load in the wash. I swear it is my fault he has no stinkin shirts clean.WTH? Of course when it is in the room and i am tripping on it, I am mad, but like you, if it isn't ticking I hear and and over exaggerate every noise. Of course it is frustrating when its home because the whole schedule is knocked off.. that bag and I really have a love hate relationship. Oh and mine is the exact same one. Don't let the kids close to that rolling handle. It could be dangerous if it closed. Does yours have his name embroidered somewhere one it? (mine comes home today, so I am way happy about that)(could this comment be more conflicting????

Oh boy, do I ever hear ya! I miss the ticking, but even more scary is the fact that I've kind of gotten used to it being gone. I can't figure out if that's a good thing or a terribly disloyal thing...

I always thought they were saying "roller board" bags, and I had no idea why they were called that...now I know it is roll aboard...makes much more sense.

We have that in our bedroom too. I considered having a cabinet/armoire built that could hold it, but who am I kidding. He would never actually heft it into some place to hide it. I guess we just live with this for the next 30 years?

And, I also have the same problem as Tracy. I do laundry when I do it, and if he doesn't unload his crap and put it in the hamper, I don't do it. Then, it is major panic right before a trip. Isn't there an easier way to do this crap?

Oh, and Mandy...I am SO with you. I have this irrational fear of bedbugs and they say that all hotels have them. So, here sits this NASTAY suitcase directly on my sheets. EW EW EW EW EW. And when I express any displeasure at this, my husband just gets totally annoyed and tells me I'm the biggest freak ever and he's not going to stop packing on the bed. ARRRRRRGH!!
